This year’s scientific agenda covers a wide spectrum of pathology subspecialties. Below is an overview of the featured scientific tracks open for abstract submissions:
Scientific Track Highlights for 2026
Track 11: Cancer Cytopathology
Cancer cytopathology continues to be an essential tool in early cancer screening, diagnosis, and monitoring. With advancements in liquid biopsy, digital cytomorphology, and AI-enabled image analysis, the specialty is moving toward improved accuracy and rapid reporting. Research that explores novel biomarkers, telecytology applications, minimally invasive sampling techniques, and standardized reporting systems such as The Paris and Bethesda systems is strongly encouraged. Submissions discussing case studies, technological evaluations, and quality assurance programs in cytology are also welcome.
Track 12: Soft Tissue and Bone Pathology
Research in soft tissue and bone tumors has evolved significantly with the integration of molecular and immunohistochemical markers. This track invites studies related to diagnostic challenges, rare sarcomas, metastatic patterns, and innovative therapies. Work involving next-generation sequencing, novel therapeutic targets, digital pathology applications, and tumor microenvironment analysis are of high interest. Real-world case presentations and comparative diagnostic methodologies are also valuable contributions.
Track 13: Immunopathology
Immunopathology plays a pivotal role in understanding autoimmune diseases, infections, allergies, graft rejection, and immune-based cancer therapies. As immunotherapy and checkpoint inhibitors reshape oncology, there is growing interest in biomarkers that predict therapy response. The conference welcomes abstracts examining immune response mechanisms, diagnostic immunohistochemical markers, cytokine profiling, and advances in flow cytometry. Topics covering translational research and precision immunology are highly encouraged.
Track 14: Anatomical, Forensic & Autopsy Pathology
This track covers comprehensive research in tissue-based diagnostics and medico-legal pathology. Submissions may include studies on histopathological techniques, virtual autopsy using imaging modalities, post-mortem molecular testing, and forensic casework. Research focusing on improving diagnostic accuracy in unexplained deaths, disaster victim identification, and cause-of-death reporting is particularly relevant. New technologies enhancing objectivity, safety, and automation in autopsy and forensic workflows are also welcome.
Track 15: Cardiovascular Pathology
Cardiovascular disease remains a leading global cause of mortality. Cardiovascular pathology enables better understanding of structural and inflammatory heart diseases, congenital abnormalities, vascular disorders, and cardiac tumors. The scientific committee invites research on autopsy-derived findings, biomarker development, myocardial pathology, endomyocardial biopsies, and pathology of implanted cardiac devices. Studies involving digital quantification and correlation with imaging modalities such as MRI or CT are encouraged.
Track 16: Digestive Diseases Pathology
Gastrointestinal pathology continues to advance through improved molecular classification of cancers, standardized grading systems, and artificial intelligence-assisted histopathologic analysis. This track welcomes research on inflammatory bowel disease, chronic liver conditions, pancreaticobiliary disorders, GI malignancies, and infectious diseases. Studies that explore digital pathology tools, whole-slide imaging, and biomarker-driven precision oncology are highly relevant.
Track 17: Electron Microscopy
Electron microscopy remains indispensable for diagnosing renal diseases, neuromuscular disorders, and certain metabolic and infectious conditions. This track encourages research focusing on ultrastructural analyses, advancements in digital EM imaging, and application of correlative light-electron microscopy. Case studies demonstrating diagnostic superiority and standardization protocols for EM laboratories are appreciated.
Track 18: Gynecological Pathology & Uropathology
This track covers research in cervical, ovarian, endometrial, prostate, kidney, and bladder pathology. Advances in HPV testing, molecular signatures, precision screening, AI-based cytology interpretation, and targeted immunotherapy have revolutionized diagnostic workflows. Abstracts focused on biomarker discovery, multidisciplinary tumor board modeling, early detection methods, and controversial diagnostic challenges are invited.
Track 19: Hematopathology
Hematopathology is critical for diagnosing leukemia, lymphoma, and other hematologic malignancies. With the evolution of flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular sequencing, and immunophenotyping, diagnosis has become more precise and personalized. Scientists and clinicians are encouraged to submit research related to minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring, novel classification systems, case-based learning, and integration of digital pathology in hematologic diagnostics.
Track 20: Head and Neck Pathology
Head and neck pathology addresses complex tumors of the oral cavity, salivary glands, thyroid, larynx, and sinonasal tract. This track seeks research studies involving rare tumors, HPV-related cancers, salivary gland neoplasms, molecular markers, prognostic tools, and multidisciplinary treatment pathways. Integration of 3D imaging, robotic surgery pathology correlation, and digital pathology tools are areas of special interest.
